info »  Centre Soleil d'Afrique is conceived as a framework to stimulate the autonomy of ideas in the visual arts in Mali. The start of the centre was in 1999. With the material support of the Prince Claus Fund a small building was realised and the first activities started. Centre Soleil d’Afrique aims to offer a space for artists to carry out research, to produce and to present their works. Furthermore, Centre Soleil d’Afrique wants to create a framework for discussion and for exchange between artists from Mali and abroad. It does so by organising workshops, debates, exhibitions and residencies. Initially the accent is mostly on painting and bogolan, in the longer term experiments including more disciplines will be covered.
